In accordance with paragraph 16.7 (c) of the Listing Rules, I write to inform
you that, with effect from 17th April 2003, David Stewart will become Operations
Director of the Society with John Alastair Thomson, the Society's Deputy Chief
Executive, taking over Board responsibility for the Finance and Treasury and
Risk functions.
