Costain wins framework contract with Highways Agency

Costain announces that it has been appointed, in joint venture with Serco, as one of the Delivery Partners to the Highways Agency's National Framework Contract.

This framework contract, which will primarily involve the delivery of earlier schemes in the Managed Motorway Programme, is focussed on enhancing the capacity and reliability of England's motorway network by installing, testing and commissioning a technology solution to allow hard shoulder running and other improvements to the network.

Up to £2 billion of contracts will be delivered through the framework of four Delivery Partners including the Costain/Serco joint venture.

Commenting on the award, Andrew Wyllie, Chief Executive of Costain, said:

"This is a strategically important win for Costain.  We identified some time ago the trend towards prioritising capacity enhancement through efficiency initiatives alongside new road build.  Our joint venture with Serco was formed specifically to win contracts like this.  We are delighted to have secured this contract with such an important client and one that further strengthens our position as one of the UK's leading solution providers in the Highways sector."
