Re Finance Director


Further to the announcement of 6 March 2006, the Board of Costain is pleased to
confirm that Anthony Bickerstaff FCCA has today joined the Board as Finance
Director.  Mr Bickerstaff has not held a directorship in a publicly quoted
company on the London Stock Exchange in the last five years.  There are no
details to report in respect of paragraphs LR 9.6.13R (2) - (6) inclusive of the
Listing Rules.  Charles McCole stepped down from the Board as Finance Director
and as an Executive Director as of 4 June 2006.
