MILES WILLIAM ROBERTS was appointed to the Board of Costain Group PLC as Finance
Director with effect from Friday, 2 June 2000.  Mr Roberts has not held a
directorship in a publicly quoted company on the London Stock Exchange or any
overseas stock exchange in the last five years.  There are no details to report
in respect of paragraphs 6.F 2(b) to (g) of the Listing Rules.  Mr Roberts was
the Finance Director of Three Valleys Water Plc.

On the 2 June 2000 John Richmond Campbell resigned from the Board of Costain
Group PLC.
