Compass  Group was today notified that Alain Dupuis  sold
1,183,782  shares  in Compass Group Plc  on  10  December
1999. The price received for these shares was as follows:

1,000,000 shares at £8.04
  183,782 shares at £8.15

120,000  of  the  shares sold were from the  exercise  of
options  granted  to Mr Dupuis at a  price  of  £2.64.  A
further  63,782 shares sold were as a result of an  award
to Mr Dupuis under the Company's Long Term Incentive Plan
for which no consideration was provided by Mr Dupuis.

Alain  Dupuis still retains a holding in 33,008  ordinary
shares.
