COMPASS GROUP PLC

Compass Group PLC has today made application to the UK Listing Authority and the
London Stock Exchange for a Block-listing of 10 million ordinary shares of 10
pence each to be admitted to the Official List.

These shares will rank pari passu with the existing ordinary shares of the
Company and will be issued in connection with the future exercise of options
over 8 million shares and 2 million shares granted under the terms of the
Company's executive and savings-related share option schemes respectively.
