Acquisition of Korund by the Abrasives Division
of Saint-Gobain Group

The Abrasives Division of Saint-Gobain has signed on August the 24th, an
agreement to purchase 51% of the capital of KORUND S.A.  Completion of the sale
is subject to obtaining the necessary regulatory approvals from Polish
authorities.  KORUND S.A., based in Kolo is the leading producer of abrasives in
Poland.  In 1998, its had annual sales of 95 million PLN (24 million Euros).
