Compagnie de Saint-Gobain 6 September 2001 SAINT-GOBAIN ANNOUNCES THE ACQUISITION OF KERAMUNDO, THE LEADING CERAMIC TILES DISTRIBUTOR IN GERMANY Pursuing its growth strategy, the Building Distribution Division of Saint-Gobain announces the acquisition of Keramundo, through its German subsidiary Raab Karcher. Keramundo is the German leading distributor of ceramic tiles. It employs 800 people and achieved a turnover of 240 million (DM 471 million) in 2000, via its 52 sales outlets located in Germany. Before, Keramundo was owned by Schuttersveld NV, a Dutch group specialised in industrial, distribution services and automotive areas. Already number 1 distributor of tiles in France, the Netherlands and United Kingdom, Saint-Gobain consolidates furthermore its European leadership. The acquisition is strongly in line with the Raab Karcher' strategy consisting in improving its products and services offer to the German market. This acquisition is subject to approval by the relevant authorities. The Building Distribution Division of Saint-Gobain has achieved a turnover of EUR 9.7 billion in 2000 and employs more than 43,000 people. It is the leading building materials distributor in Europe, via its 2,500 outlets in 13 countries. Its major brand names are Point. P, Lapeyre, La Plateforme du Batiment, Jewson, Graham, and Raab Karcher. September 6, 2001.
