                           Purchase of Own Securities

On 19 January 2004 Colefax Group plc bought for cancellation a total of 200,000
ordinary shares of 10 pence each (representing 1.02 per cent. of the issued
ordinary share capital of the Company) at a price of 77 pence per share.

Following the cancellation of these shares there will be 19,408,100 shares in
issue.
