                           Purchase of Own Securities

On 9 October 2003 Colefax Group Plc bought for cancellation a total of 200,000
ordinary shares of 10 pence each (representing 1.05 per cent of the issued
ordinary share of Company) at a price of 78 pence per share.

Following the cancellation of these shares there will be 19,708,100 shares in
issue.
