                           Purchase of Own Securities



On 22nd August 2002 Colefax Group Plc bought for cancellation a total of 500,000
ordinary shares of 10 pence each (representing 2.33 per cent of the issued
ordinary share capital of the Company) at a price of 74 pence per share.

Following the cancellation of these shares there will be 20,960,100 shares in
issue.
