Subsidiary Wins 6 New Contracts Worth £1m

Comino PLC 17 January 2000 COMINO PLC: CONTRACT GAINS ISE subsidiary wins 6 new contracts worth £1m including ground-breaking local authority pension order Comino plc ('Comino'), the supplier of computer systems for occupations pensions, housing and local authority revenues & benefits, announces that its ISE subsidiary has won six new contracts in the local authority marketplace with a combined value of £1m. The contracts were secured during the final quarter of 1999. The new contracts include an order from West Midlands Authority Pension Fund (WMPF), the country's largest local authority pension scheme, to develop a version of ISE's Universal Pensions Management System (UPM) customized to reflect the Local Government Pension Scheme Regulations. The announcement of this partnership follows responses to an extremely detailed open tendering exercise and a rigorous evaluation process involving the use of external consultants. This is ISE's first local authority UPM site and signifies an era of change in the local authority pensions administration market. The other contracts are for ISE's workflow software product for revenues & benefits. They include orders from Isle of Wight Council, St Edmondsbury & Waveney DC, Nuneaton & Bedworth BC, and Swindon BC, the latter contract being secured through ISE's successful partnership with W S Atkins plc, the managed service provider. Mike Woodall, Chief Pensions Officer for the WMPF said: 'ISE came out of the tendering exercise as the only supplier with an approach which would genuinely take us forward and give us the facilities we are looking to introduce. The UPM software which is currently implemented within the private sector reflects this. UPM will help us to both improve our internal efficiency and the service we can provide to members and employers. We have long thought that the local government pension schemes (LGPS) were crying out for an alternative solution and numerous other schemes have expressed a strong interest in this project. I think this will prove to be a red-letter day for the LGPS software market.' Garth Selvey, Chief Executive of Comino, comments: 'Comino's main markets are social housing, local authority revenue departments and occupational pensions systems. These recent wins emphasise our continuing ability to provide effective solutions for these sectors. The partnership with WMPF represents a breakthrough in the provision of effective software for the LGPS market and the potential market and opportunities for Comino are enormous.'
