AGM Statement

CML Microsystems PLC 31 July 2002 Press Release 31 July 2002 CML MICROSYSTEMS PLC CHAIRMAN'S AGM STATEMENT CML Microsystems plc ('the group'), which designs, manufactures and markets a broad range of semiconductor products, primarily for the global communications industry, held its Annual General Meeting at 12.00 noon in Maldon, Essex. After the formal proceedings of the AGM, George Gurry, Chairman of CML Microsystems, made the following statement regarding Group trading during the first full quarter of this current trading year. 'Overall sales in the quarter are in line with the group's internal forecast and show an increase over the sales for the preceding quarter, the fourth quarter of last year. Draft results also post satisfactory earnings compared with the loss recorded for the previous quarter. 'Increase sales into a number of Far East territories led the improvement, with useful support coming from a firmer tone to some market areas addressed by the group's US operation. 'However, the group's sales performance in the general European markets fell below expectations, with several key territories failing to yield the project business that had been forecast. Looking forward, the problems still evident in important major markets of the group will likely continue as a brake on sales growth, and overall our expectations for the year are unchanged.'
