TRANSACTION IN OWN SHARES

Close Brothers Group plc announces that it has today purchased 44,586 ordinary shares at an average price of 1434.9752 pence.  The highest and lowest price paid for these shares was 1460 pence and 1437 pence, respectively. The shares purchased will all be held as treasury shares for the purpose of satisfying option grants and share awards made under the Company's employee share plans.

Following the purchase of these shares, Close Brothers Group plc holds 1,149,090 of its ordinary shares in treasury and has 149,485,747 ordinary shares in issue (excluding treasury shares).
