TRANSACTION IN OWN SHARES

Close Brothers Group plc (the 'Company') announces that on 22 March 2010 it transferred 58,014 ordinary shares of 25 pence each from treasury to participants in its employee share plans.  The transfer price was 436.32 pence.

Following the transfer of these shares, the Company holds 4,965,266 of its ordinary shares in treasury and has 144,702,057 ordinary shares in issue (excluding treasury shares).
