TRANSACTION IN OWN SHARES

Close Brothers Group plc (the 'Company') announces that on 16 March 2010 it transferred 9,024 ordinary shares of 25 pence each from treasury to participants in its employee share plans.  The transfer price was 436.32 pence.

Following the transfer of these shares, the Company holds 5,093,067 of its ordinary shares in treasury and has 144,574,256 ordinary shares in issue (excluding treasury shares).
