TRANSACTION IN OWN SHARES

Close Brothers Group plc announces that it has today purchased 276,841 ordinary shares at an average price of 503 pence. The highest and lowest price paid for these shares were 510 pence and 496.5 pence respectively. The purchased shares will all be held as treasury shares for the purpose of satisfying option grants and share awards made under the Company's employee share plans.

Following the purchase of these shares, Close Brothers Group plc holds 1,294,520 of its ordinary shares in treasury and has 148,088,404 ordinary shares in issue (excluding treasury shares).
