Statement announcing end of talks


The Board of Close Brothers Group plc ("Close Brothers" or the "Group") confirms
that following a number of approaches and detailed discussions with several
parties it is no longer in discussions in relation to an offer for the Group or
any of its divisions.

Close Brothers will announce its interim results and give an update on business
performance on Monday 3 March 2008.
