                            BOARD APPOINTMENT

David Pusinelli, A.C.A., aged 46, has today been appointed a director of Close
Brothers Group plc.  Having previously qualified with Coopers & Lybrand he
joined the corporate finance division of Close Brothers in 1986 and has been
working within head office on the development activities of the company since
1998.  He will continue to be responsible for corporate development.
