Clarkson PLC 23 April 2004 CLARKSON PLC Embargoed until 09.30am Press Release 23 April 2004 BOARD CHANGES The Board of Clarkson PLC, the holding company of the shipping services group, announces that Richard Fulford-Smith has been appointed Chief Executive of the group and joins the holding company board. Richard Fulford-Smith will continue in his role as Managing Director of the group's main UK shipbroking subsidiary, H. Clarkson & Company Limited. Gary Weston will be stepping down from his position on the PLC board and as Chairman of H. Clarkson & Company Limited to pursue other business interests. Commenting on the news, Michael Beckett, Chairman of Clarkson PLC, said: 'Gary has served on the PLC board for the past 12 years and he goes with our very best wishes and our appreciation for the tremendous contribution he has made to Clarksons over the years. He is leaving the PLC board on a high note with the group posting record results for last year in an exceptional freight market which has continued into the first quarter of this year.'
