                        CHANGES TO CLARKSON PLC BOARD


Clarkson PLC, the world's largest shipbroking and shipping services group, is
pleased to announce the appointment of Martin Watson as a Non-Executive
director of the Company with effect from Tuesday 4 September 2001.


The Company also announces that Alan Brooks, a Non-Executive Director of the
Company since 1993, retired from the Board on 4 September 2001.
