APPOINTMENT OF NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

City of London (LSE: CLIG), a leading emerging markets asset management group, is pleased to announce the appointment of Rian Dartnell as a non-executive director with immediate effect.

Rian Dartnell, a US citizen and resident, is Chief Investment Officer for Granite Associates and is responsible for setting and implementing the firm's investment strategy and for managing the investment team.  He joined Granite Associates in 2001.

Previously, Rian worked for Kemnay Advisory Services managing a large portfolio of investments with a global, multi-asset class mandate.  From 1993 to 1999, he was a Fund Manager for Global Asset Management ("GAM"), managing international funds with an emphasis on Emerging Markets and Asia, including Japan.  He worked for GAM in London from 1993 to 1997, before moving to Brazil where he started and managed GAM Brasil, Ltda.  From 1989 to 1993, he was a Vice President in Bankers Trust's International Merchant Bank, focusing on Africa, Eastern Europe and the Middle East.  Rian began his career in New York as a financial analyst at Salomon Brothers Inc.

Rian is a Trustee of the Greenwich Country Day School and serves on its Endowment Committee.  He is on the Investment Committee for the College of Mount Saint Vincent and is as member of the Lumina Foundation for Education's Investment Committee.  He is an Advisor to the Lakeview Opportunity Funds and is a Trustee of the Greenwich Roundtable.

Rian holds a BSc (Econ) and a MSc (Econ), both from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
