                     Appointment of Non-Executive Director


The City of London Investment Trust plc announces that Anita Frew will join the
Board as a non-executive director with effect from 1 October 2006.  Anita Frew,
who is aged 49, is a non-executive director of Aberdeen Asset Management plc,
IMI plc, Securities Trust of Scotland plc, Victrex plc and Northumbrian Water
Ltd.


In accordance with Listing Rule 9.6.13, Anita Frew was a director of NXT plc
until 22 July 2004. There is no other information to be disclosed under Listing
Rule 9.6.13.
