   BFS SMALL COMPANIES DIVIDEND TRUST PLC

The Company wishes to announce that at a Meeting held on 28 November 2000, the
Board approved the appointment of Mr William A van Heesewijk as alternate
Director to Mr Anthony A Reid.  The Company has been advised of the following:

Mr van Heesewijk is an alternate Director of BFS UK Dual Return Trust PLC but
has not been a Director in any other publicly quoted Company during the last 5
years.  Mr van Heesewijk has a beneficial interests in 1,250 Ordinary 25p
shares of the Company, representing 0.008% of the issued class of capital

There are no details to be disclosed pursuant to paragraph 6.f.2(b) to (g) of
the Listing Rules.
