                            Significant Shareholding


The Board of Elektron Plc (the 'Company' or 'Elektron') announces that it was
informed on 12 December and 13 December 2006 that, following a purchase on each
date of 100,000 ordinary shares of 5p each in the capital of the Company
('Ordinary Shares'), John Kinder now holds 14,567,647 Ordinary Shares,
representing 16.83 per cent. of the issued share capital of the Company.
