ELEKTRON PLC ('Elektron')

Elektron announces that Mr Alastair S Winter has resigned from the Board of
Elektron with effect from Friday 20th December 2002.  Mr Winter has stated that
'After nearly six years as a non-executive director I now wish to make way for
new independent members of the Board.  My successor as Chairman will be
appointed early in the New Year.'  The Board of Elektron wishes to record its
appreciation and wishes him well for the future.
