                                  SHAREHOLDING

Elektron has been informed that on 23 October 2003, the Elektron PLC Employee
Benefit Trust (the 'Elektron EBT') purchased 300,000 ordinary shares in the
Company at 6.4p per share.


This purchase represents the total holding of Elektron EBT, and 0.58% of
Elektron's issued share capital.
