                          Grant of options to Director

The Board of Elektron Plc (the 'Company' or 'Elektron'), the AIM quoted
electro-mechanical component and switch manufacturer, announces that the
remuneration committee of the Board of the Company has granted options to Adrian
Girling, a Director and Executive Chairman of the Company. The options so
granted enable Adrian Girling to subscribe for 1,000,000 ordinary shares of 5p
each in the Company ('Ordinary Shares'), at an exercise price of 15.35p per
Ordinary Share. The options have been issued under the Elektron 2001 Approved
Share Option Scheme and are exercisable between 3 and 10 years of grant provided
certain performance related conditions are met.
