                           BOARD CHANGES AT ELEKTRON


Elektron Plc, the AIM quoted components and power electronics group, announces
that Adrian Charles Nigel Girling(50) and Ronald Arthur Bulgin(67) have joined
the Board of Directors with effect from 17 January 2003.

Adrian Girling, a Chartered Engineer with 20 years experience in general
management, will assume the role of  Executive Chairman which incorporates the
role of Chief Executive. As of the same date,Brian Emerson, who has been Chief
Executive since October 1998, relinquishes that position but remains on the
Board of Elektron Plc as a non-executive director.

Mr Bulgin, who was Chairman and Managing Director of Elektron Plc (then known as
Bulgin Plc) until January 1998 rejoins the Board as a non-executive director.

Mr Girling is currently a director of Zybell Limited and during the last five
years was a director of Bowthorpe EMP Limited, Optim Electronics Limited, Penny
& Giles Data Systems Limited and Redpoint Thermalloy Limited.

Mr Bulgin is currently a director of Texas Ragtime Inc and during  the last 5
years was a director of Longmead Homes Limited.

Save as disclosed above, there are no further disclosures in accordance with
Schedule 2 paragraph f of the AIM Rules.
