Chairman's AGM Statement

CHAMBERLIN & HILL PLC 30 July 1999 AGM Statement At the AGM of Chamberlain & Hill today, Chairman John Eccles will make the following comments to shareholders: My statement in the June Annual Report said that 'this year has started steadily with rather better trading than in the last three months of last financial year, but not as buoyant as in the equivalent period a year ago'. I can now report that orders and schedules have improved somewhat in recent weeks. I also reported that the Directors had decided to exercise the powers granted to them to buy-back Company shares, and I am pleased to announce that so far, we have been able to purchase and cancel a total of 436,000 shares representing 5.66% of the original issued share capital. These purchases have been made without as yet incurring any borrowings and they will result in an improvement in earnings per share for the remaining shareholders. We will continue to review the use of the powers granted to us, and only exercise them in light of prevailing market conditions and when we believe it to be in the best interests of the shareholders generally.
