Directors' Responsibilities

Centrica PLC 11 September 2001 Centrica changes in board responsibilities Centrica plc has today announced changes in responsibility of a number of its board directors. These will take effect from 1 January 2002. The aim of these changes is to: * Provide a greater focus on brands * Further enhance customer service * Enable the sharing of best practice and skills across Centrica Mark Clare remains Deputy Chief Executive and will assume responsibility for all activities under the British Gas brand. Mike Alexander has been appointed Chief Operating Officer with responsibility for customer information at Group level. He will also be responsible for information systems and for identifying and driving best practice across the Group's activities. In addition, Mike will take charge of developing Centrica's UK business to business activities. Roger Wood has been appointed Managing Director, the AA, with responsibility for all activities under the brand, including roadside, financial services and publishing. These changes will support the delivery of Centrica's strategy, which remains unchanged, to be the leading supplier of essential services in its chosen markets.
