Milestone Group PLC 10 September 2003 For Immediate Release Wednesday 10th September 2003 MILESTONE GROUP PLC APPOINTMENT OF NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR FORMER UNITED BROADCASTING CHIEF JOINS BOARD Milestone Group PLC ('Milestone' or 'the Group'), the new cross-media group, operating in publishing, radio and television, today announces the appointment of Roger Laughton CBE as a Non-Executive Director of the Group with immediate effect. Roger, aged 61, has over 35 years of experience working at the BBC and ITV as a director, producer and executive. He was also the executive responsible for the launch of the BBC's daytime service in 1986. In 1990, Roger joined MAI to lead the successful bid for the ITV franchise in the South and South-East of England. Roger became the Chief Executive of Meridian, which started broadcasting in 1993. In 1996, he joined the Board of United News and Media ('UNM') as Chief Executive of United Broadcasting and Entertainment, the broadcasting division of UNM. In 1999, Roger was appointed Head of Bournemouth Media School. He stepped down as a Director of UNM in 2000 following the sale of the broadcasting division to Granada. He was awarded the Royal Television Society's Gold Medal in 1999 and appointed CBE in 2000.
