Distribution deal

Newsplayer Group PLC 14 January 2002 Monday, 14 January 2001 Partnership between NPG and Alternate TV to deliver content in Singapore Newsplayer Group Plc ('NPG'), the new media company, and Alternate TV, a leader in interactive content and streaming media, facilitated by the Infocomm Development Authority (IDA) of Singapore, announce the launch of a service to deliver NPG's extensive, fully searchable video content via the Singapore ONE broadband backbone showcased on the Singapore ONE webtop. Broadband users in Singapore will be able to search, access and view video footage from NPG's media channels Newsplayer.com, Screenplayer.com, and Frost.tv, which feature news footage, movie-related footage and interviews with leading world personalities conducted over the past 40 years by Sir David Frost, respectively. The new service takes full advantage of the interactive capacity of the Internet and combines it with the quality of broadband content delivery to provide users of Singapore ONE with access to a world-class collection of fully searchable media content. Alternate TV will offer subscriptions to all three video archives at a special discounted rate of US$75 for a full year's subscription during the initial launch period of six months. To ensure that Singapore ONE users receive the content in its highest quality form, the content will be streamed from servers connected directly to Singapore's broadband backbone. NPG will receive a share of the revenues. Christopher Chew, Alternate TV's Chief Executive Officer, said: 'Newsplayer, Screenplayer and Frost.tv provide the type of content that has been sorely lacking in the broadband environment. Not only does NPG have the kind of content that you cannot find easily in another medium, its search function makes the large video archives extremely intuitive for web access. With the growing interest in retrospectives into the past, world and political events, especially with recent events in the US, making NPG content available to the fast-growing base of over 450,000 broadband users on Singapore ONE satisfies a very real and immediate need. Beyond pure entertainment, NPG content also serves as a valuable resource for research and educational purposes.' Paul Duffen, Chief Executive Officer of NPG, said: 'We are delighted to be one of the first broadband media content providers to Singapore ONE users. Singapore has the highest broadband penetration rate in Asia, and thus is a natural home for us. We are looking forward to having a presence here for a long time.'
