Catlin Group Limited has been informed today by AllianceBernstein L.P. (formerly
known as Alliance Capital Management L.P.) that shares over which it has been
granted voting rights do not currently qualify as a notifiable interest within
the meaning of section 199(2) of the UK Companies Act 1985. This information
supersedes the notification announced on 28 February 2005 of a deemed beneficial
ownership interest of 4.9%.
