          NOTIFICATION OF INTEREST IN THE SHARES OF CATLIN GROUP LIMITED

Catlin Group Limited ('the Company') on 3 May 2005 received notice that as of 
28 April 2005:

(i)     CIBC Trust Company (Bahamas) Limited as trustee of a trust,
        Settlement T-2390 ('CIBC Trust'), has ceased to be interested 
        in 2,625,000 Common Shares and

(ii)    CIBC Trust is interested in 7,456,993 Common Shares (4.8%)
        of which it is the registered holder and a further 274,400 
        Commons Shares (0.2%)held by its subsidiary Western General 
        Insurance Ltd, an interest which is attributable to CIBC Trust 
        under the Company's Bye-laws.

In addition, Western General holds warrants to purchase 2,942,796 Common Shares.
