                   NOTIFICATION OF INTEREST IN SHARES


The Board of Carr's Milling Industries PLC (the 'Company') was notified on 11
September 2000, in accordance with the provisions of sections 198-202 of the 
Companies Act 1985, that as a result of a sale of 12,500 ordinary shares of
25p each in the Company, Value and Income Trust  plc no longer has a
notifiable interest in the issued ordinary share capital of the Company.
