Carclo Engineering Group PLC announces the appointment of Mr Christopher Mawe as
Group Finance Director with effect from 3 September 1999.

Chris, aged 37, joins the Board from IMI PLC where he was Finance Director of
Heimeier and Yorkshire Fittings.  He has a first class honours degree in
Engineering, is a Chartered Accountant and joined IMI in 1992 from corporate
recovery at Coopers & Lybrand.

Following the acquisition of Heimeier by IMI in 1995, Chris was appointed head
of finance, EDP and administration at Heimeier in Germany.  He was promoted to
Finance Director in 1996 and became spokesman of the Board in 1998.  Most
recently he also took over responsibility for finance and EDP at IMI Yorkshire
Fittings Group.
