On 28 March 2006, Cairn was notified by Deutsche Bank AG that it and its
subsidiary companies have a notifiable interest in 6,405,203 ordinary shares of
10 pence each in Cairn, representing approximately 4.00% of Cairn's current
issued ordinary share capital.
