Notification of Shareholding - Companies Act 1985 ss.198-202 (as amended)

On 7 November 2000 Cairn was notified by Fidelity International Limited that,
following the purchase of 2,286,785 shares, it and its direct and indirect
subsidiaries had an interest in 8,546,722 Ordinary Shares of 10 pence each in
Cairn, representing 5.81% of Cairn's current issued ordinary share capital.

The registered shareholders to which this notification relates and the number
of shares held by the registered holders at the date hereof is as follows:-
