Application has been made to the London Stock Exchange and the United Kingdom
Listing Authority for a block listing of 1,500,000 ordinary shares of 10 pence
each to be admitted to the Official List. These shares will rank pari passu with
the existing ordinary shares.


The ordinary shares are to be issued as a result of future exercise of options
under the Cairn Energy PLC 1996 Second Share Option Scheme.
