                               BOARD APPOINTMENT

              CAPITAL & REGIONAL APPOINTS PY GERBEAU TO MAIN BOARD


Capital & Regional plc, the co-investing property asset manager, announces that
PY Gerbeau has been appointed as a main board director with immediate effect.


PY Gerbeau joined the Company in 2001 to head the leisure property division of
the Company, focused initially around Xscape Milton Keynes, and to move forward
the roll-out of this exciting innovation for the leisure market.  The
widely-recognised success of Xscape Milton Keynes has validated the UK expansion
programme, with new sites due to open near Leeds in September 2003 and Glasgow
during 2005.


In January this year Capital & Regional expanded its leisure and asset
management business by completing the acquisition of the MWB Leisure fund
management interests. The combined leisure property activities of the Company
under PY's leadership has been branded X-Leisure.
