Supercapacitor-optimized LED flash drivers ready

CAP-XX Limited, developer of the supercapacitor-driven BriteFlash power architecture, today announces the availability of commercial third party supercapacitor-optimized LED flash drivers and modules from Analogictech, ON Semiconductor and Seoul Semiconductor. These drivers enable mobile handset manufacturers to easily integrate the CAP-XX supercapacitor high-power LED flash units into high-resolution camera phones and digital cameras.

CAP-XX has developed the BriteFlash power architecture to give the designers of camera phones and digital cameras a thin-form LED flash solution that delivers light energy (a flash) that far exceeds standard battery-powered LED flash. These new LED flash drivers integrate all the circuitry required to power the flash reducing development time, circuit board space and component cost.

Anthony Kongats, CEO of CAP-XX, commented:

'The availability of these drivers from AnalogicTech and ON Semiconductor and Seoul Semiconductor is a further important step towards commercialisation and volume sales for CAP-XX as it will allow our customers to easily incorporate BriteFlash into small mobile handsets and digital cameras and brings our product even closer to this mass market application.'

Notes to Editors:

CAP-XX is a world leader in the design and manufacture of thin-form supercapacitors and power management systems, predominantly for portable electronic devices.

The unique feature of CAP-XX's supercapacitors is their ability to store high volumes of energy and output high power levels within a thin-form design. These attributes will be critical for the next generation of high volume, power-hungry portable electronic devices, including mobile phones and solid state drives.

Portable devices are one of the fastest growing segments of the electronics market and provide the greatest opportunities for CAP-XX's products. CAP-XX's products are already an established enabling technology for the current generation of wireless devices.
