Purchase of Own Securities

In accordance with paragraph 15.9 of the Listing Rules we announce that
Camellia Plc purchased, for cancellation, 1,900 ordinary shares of 10p each of
Camellia Plc. Details are:

     25th May 2001 - 1,900 ordinary shares at £28.25 per share

As a result of the above cancellation the percentage holding of ordinary
shares in Camellia Plc. held by Camellia AG is now 52.01% representing
1,420,000 ordinary shares.

Camellia Plc, is the ultimate holding company of the undernoted companies and
Camellia AG is, therefore, deemed to be interested in a further 62,500
ordinary shares of Camellia Plc (2.29%).

     Assam-Dooars Holdings Limited     1.56%

     Western Dooars Tea Holdings Limited     0.73%
