Caledonian Trust PLC ('the Company') announces:-



On 8 January 2004 the Company acquired a total of 8,000 of its own Ordinary
Shares as detailed below:-



1.         The transactions were both effected on 8 January 2004



2.         The securities acquired were Ordinary Shares of 20p each in the
capital of the Company.   The shares were purchased by way of market
transactions one in respect of 5000 shares and the other in respect of 3000
shares. Both transactions were at a price of 115p per share.



3.         The shares will be cancelled.



4.         Following this buy-back the authorised and issued ordinary share
capital of the Company will be 11,502,269 Ordinary Shares of 20p each.

free of charge from 9 January 2004 until 9 February 2004 in the offices of Noble
