Caledonian Trust PLC ('the Company') announces: -

On 11 May 2000, the Company acquired a total of 50,000 of its own Ordinary
Shares as detailed below: -

(i)   The transaction was effected on 11 May 2000.
(ii)  The securities acquired were Ordinary Shares of 20p each in the capital   
     of the Company. The shares were purchased by way of a market transaction   
    at a price of 48.25p per share.

(iii) The shares will be cancelled.
