                      Trustee Appointment and Shareholding

Caledonian Trust PLC ('the Company'), the Edinburgh-based property investment
holding and development company, announces that Michael J Baynham, Finance
Director of the Company, has been appointed as a trustee of a Life Rent Trust
('the Trust'), which holds 200,000 ordinary shares in Caledonian Trust PLC.  Mr
Baynham has no beneficial interest in the shares held by the Trust.

Mr Baynham's last notified holding in the Company was 730,191 ordinary shares,
which included 955 ordinary shares held by his children.  As his children have
now reached the age of eighteen, these shares are no longer included in Mr
Baynham's total shareholding in the Company. As such, Mr Baynham has a
notifiable interest in 729,236 ordinary shares in the Company, representing 6.14
per cent of the issued share capital of the Company.
