                           Transaction in own shares





Caledonia Investments plc ('Caledonia') announces that on 23 January 2008 it
purchased 5,000 of its own ordinary shares of 5p each at a price of 1915p per
share.  These shares are to be held in treasury.



Following the purchase, Caledonia holds 417,229 of its ordinary shares in
treasury and has a total of 58,377,552 ordinary shares with voting rights
(excluding treasury shares) in issue.
