Purchase of own securities held in treasury


Caledonia Investments plc ('Caledonia') announces that on 22 July 2004
it purchased  100,000 of its own ordinary shares at a price of 1015p
per share from Cazenove & Co. Ltd. These shares are to be held in treasury.


Following the purchase, Caledonia holds 100,000 of its
ordinary shares in treasury and has a total of 64,105,796 ordinary
shares (excluding treasury shares) in issue.
