Burberry Group plc ('the Company')

As potential beneficiaries of the holding of The Burberry Group plc ESOP Trust
('the Trust'), employees of the Company and its subsidiaries and the following
directors of the Company; RoseMarie Bravo, Thomas J. O'Neill and Michael Metcalf
('the Directors') are deemed, under section 324 Companies Act 1985, to have an
interest in the Ordinary Shares of 0.05p each in the Company ('Shares') held by
the Trust.

The Company received notification on 27 March 2003 from Abacus Corporate Trustee
Limited as trustee of the Trust and on behalf of the Directors that, on 26 March
2003 it had acquired 500,000 Shares at a price of £2.4491 per Share.
