                        BUNZL ACQUIRES GREENHAM TRADING


Bunzl plc, the international group supplying business to business consumables,
today announces the acquisition of Greenham Trading for a net consideration of
£76.36 million.

Greenham Trading is primarily involved in the distribution of supplies
including cleaning and hygiene, personal protection and construction
consumables.  Headquartered in Isleworth, it has locations across the UK and
also in Denmark, Ireland and Germany.  In 1999, Greenham Trading had sales of
£141.6 million and profit before tax of £6.9 million.  Net assets at 31
December 1999 were £31.1 million. The consideration, together with £2.58
million in respect of Greenham's cash balances, was paid in cash on completion
from Bunzl's existing resources. The final consideration will be adjusted on
the basis of the value of net assets at completion.

Commenting on Bunzl's latest acquisition Anthony Habgood, Chairman of Bunzl,

a considerable product and geographic overlap with Bunzl's existing rapidly
developing Outsourcing Services business in Europe.  With its potential for
one stop shop and value added distribution it significantly enhances our
strong position in cleaning and hygiene supplies and develops our growing
business in personal protection products both in the UK and in mainland
Europe.'
